Our journey began…

In Sydney, where Dave & I were both born & raised, with no intention, will or even thought of ever leaving the big smoke.

We started our family in 2010 and resided in the suburban postcode of Peakhurst, 2210.

With three kids, a successful Electrical company and my Interior Design Consultancy just getting started, we decided to pull the pin and realised space was what we really wanted and needed.

We put the house up for auction the day after auctions were banned, and put a sold sticker on it 6 days later. We left in the stealth of night and drove twelve hours north to where we call home today.

200 acres of the most glorious land in Mount Walker, nestled amongst the mountains of the Great Dividing Range in the Scenic Rim region of south east Queensland, an hour south west of Brisbane.

We’ve just clocked over our 2.5 year anniversary here now, and my oh my how far we’ve come, just look at all the things we’ve done…

We’ve entered the local agricultural shows, we’ve jumped right in to voluntary work within the school, footy club and RFS, and now we’re sharing with you the next chapter, our Paddock to Plate. We’ve teamed up with the local Butcher who will work with us to provide you with the best tasting beef and lamb this farm has to offer. Our grass fed Angus & Droughtmaster prime beef and Dorper Lamb.

You’ll also be able to sample our organic produce either fresh, or conjured up into prize winning delectable preserves and accompaniments that have had the locals very excited

Our vision

Is to take over the farm from where the previous owners left off, respectfully taking care of the land. To rear the highest quality cattle & sheep in an honest, ethical and sustainable environment - grass fed on pasture, free of hormones, stress free cell-grazed the old way, and then deliver their meat as well as other produce we harvest here on the Ridge such as the wine produced from our very own vineyard, and the fruits of our orchard right to your door.

Later we plan to participate in the Eat Local Week and Winter Harvest festivals and open the farm to Art class & Cookery bookings and offer private functions with wine tastings at our cellar door, feasting on king tables layered with our home smoked meats and delicacies made right here on the farm from our multi award winning produce.

So I hope you enjoy strolling through our pages, learning and laughing like us, with full hearts and full bellies, enjoying the journey and the fruits of our land.

And just where did the name Rowe’s Way Ridge come from? Well, from John, the man who sold us this dream. As you would expect, we had many questions on well, all of it, he said “I can show you the way I’ve done it , but you must do it your way, the Rowe’s way”..

Meet the farmers.

It’s just us. Mel & Dave.

Dave is an Electrician - and a bloody good one too. He can also drive anything with wheels, builds and fix engines, enjoys beer - so brews it, likes fire - so immediately joined the Rural Fire Service, and likes meat, a lot - so bought a farm and rears beef cattle and sheep because hey, “I can’t crawl around in roofs forever”.

And then there’s me. A farmers wife and a mum of three. Trained Interior Designer with a very successful home renovation and sale up my belt, growing group of happy clients, serial volunteer within the school, footy club and local community. I also have a flare for cookery, have an unhealthy love of chickens and am a self confessed sustainability nerd.

Together, we form the brains, brawn and backbone of this business. It’s busy, it’s hard, it’s relentless and it’s wonderful. We’re learning, we’re listening and we’re loving every moment of life here on Rowe’s Way Ridge.
